Google has released the sixth beta of Android 17 QPR2 for Pixel devices, with fixes aimed at two of the most disruptive bugs in the beta cycle: unexpected reboots on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and kernel crashes affecting multiple Pixel models.

The unexpected reboot issue has plagued Pixel 9 Pro Fold users throughout the QPR2 beta cycle, with the foldable randomly restarting during normal use. Beta 6 targets this directly. Kernel crash fixes are also included, addressing system-level instability that could cause freezes and forced restarts across the Pixel lineup.

These are the types of bugs that make daily-driving a beta build impractical. Users who stayed on the QPR2 beta despite the reboots should see a meaningful improvement with this update.

The QPR2 Timeline

Beta 6 continues the QPR2 cycle that began with Beta 1 in July, which fixed a bug that rebooted phones when opening Gemini. Beta 4 in August added Notification Intelligence and status bar customization. Six betas deep, the QPR2 cycle has been one of the busier quarterly beta rounds, reflecting both the volume of new features and the bugs they introduced.
