iQOO Pad Ultra Packs a Cooling Fan Into an 8.8-Inch Tablet

iQOO has confirmed the final display and cooling specs for the Pad Ultra ahead of its September 29 launch in China alongside the iQOO 16. The gaming tablet puts a 30mm active cooling fan inside a body that measures just 5.74mm thick.

Display Specs

The Pad Ultra features an 8.8-inch OLED display running at 165Hz with a local peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Bezels measure 2.65mm on all four sides, giving the tablet a 93.3% screen-to-body ratio. Response time sits under 1ms, and touch sampling reaches 500Hz in sustained mode and 5,000Hz in instantaneous burst mode.

At 298 grams and 5.74mm, the Pad Ultra is lighter and thinner than most phones with comparable screen sizes. The all-metal body comes in two colors: Ender Black and Star Silver.

Active Cooling Hardware

The built-in cooling fan measures 30 x 30 x 3.5mm with a maximum speed of 14,500 rpm and airflow of 0.94 CFM. It works alongside a 12,118mm² dual-layer vapor chamber heatsink. The fan is the clearest signal that iQOO is positioning this as a gaming device first — most tablets rely on passive cooling alone and throttle under sustained load.

Other gaming hardware includes symmetrical dual speakers and dual X-axis linear motors for haptic feedback.

iQOO 16 Camera Upgrade

iQOO also revealed that the iQOO 16 will carry a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, a notable upgrade from the iQOO 15's 1/1.56-inch sensor. The larger sensor captures significantly more light per pixel, which should translate to better low-light performance.

Both devices are expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Pricing has not been announced, but both launch on September 29 in China.
